The DMS Cross Country team has a season which lasts from August to the first week of October. Athletes are introduced to the sport of distance running. Cross country courses are run on grass trails or in the woods. The DMS Cross Country team has had great success, qualifying for the state championships now for 12 years in a row. The DMS Track team has a season that lasts from the end of February to the first week of May. Athletes are given a chance to compete in several different events. The DMS Track team has had great success, qualifying athletes to the state meet for all three years of the meet's existence. The DMS Track team is coached by Eric Hickerson.
