"The mission of Centennial Elementary School is to empower all students to achieve their personal best and exceed state standards within an enriching, stimulating, and safe environment."
Centennial Elementary School opened its doors in August 1999. Originally, the faculty and staff were part of Sullivan Elementary School, located in the Sullivan Building on the DCHS campus. The school’s name celebrates the 100-year anniversary of Dickson County. During the transition to the new campus, Mr. Gary Brunett served as principal, continuing his leadership for an additional seven years. His guiding motto, “Do the right thing because it’s the right thing to do,” continues to shape the school’s culture today. In 2006, Crysti Sheley took over as principal, maintaining the school's dedication to hard work, good citizenship, and academic success for an impressive 16 years. In 2023, Mrs. Erica Logan assumed leadership, upholding and advancing these core values.
As the largest elementary school in Dickson County, we serve over 500 students from Pre-K through 5th grade. Schools are recognized as Reward Schools when they demonstrate high levels of performance and/or improvement by meeting their annual measurable objectives across performance indicators and student groups, with significant emphasis on improvement from the previous year. Centennial Elementary received the Reward School designation for the eighth time in 2023. This prestigious recognition highlights our unwavering commitment to academic excellence and student growth.
We promote learning in a safe and orderly environment, believe in the potential of all students, and encourage every student to strive for their personal best each day. Centennial supports community extracurricular activities by sharing facilities with Buckner Park, where children participate in baseball, softball, basketball, soccer, and cross-country running. For students interested in the fine arts, we offer excellent art and music programs, as well as a student choir. Our 61 certified staff members and 13 support staff members are dedicated to building positive relationships with students, fostering their academic, social, and emotional development.
