Dr. Vivian McCord - Interim Director Of Schools

Dr. Vivian McCord has been named Interim director of Dickson County Schools (DCS).  Dr. McCord is a long time resident of Dickson County and has spent her entire career of 44 years with Dickson County Schools. She is a graduate of Dickson County High School, Austin Peay State University, and Trevecca Nazarene University.  She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary and Elementary Education, a Master’s degree in Administration and Supervision, and a Doctor’s degree in educational leadership and professional practice.

Dr. McCord began her career as an elementary teacher at Stuart Burns Elementary.  After one year, she move to Dickson Junior High School and William James High School to teach Mathematics for twelve years.  In 1992, Dr. McCord became the principal of Charlotte Elementary School until 2002.  In the fall of 2002 until 2019, she began serving as Federal Programs Director for Dickson County Schools.  

After retiring in 2019, Dr. McCord became the Coordinator of Special Projects as a part-time position.  In 2009, Dr. McCord taught at the college level as an ESL instructor for Trevecca Nazarene University.  In 2022, she became the ESL program director for Trevecca Nazarene University.  

Dr. McCord has served as the president of the Middle TN Federal Directors, AdvancED Quality Review Chair, and a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society.  Dr. McCord was named Middle Tennessee Supervisor of the Year in 2014 – 2015.  Providing a quality education for all students is a passion for Dr. McCord, She is a strong advocate for public education for the students of Dickson County.
